Lumen's licensing is designed to be as straightforward and flexible as possible while still being fair. The short version of it is that with a single license, you can have up to two computers activated at the same time, and you can move the activations between computers as much as you'd like.
Let's break it down:
Activation Codes
Each license that you purchase for Lumen gives you an activation code that will be emailed to you. This code can used to activate up to two computers at the same time, so if you use a laptop and a desktop computer, you can use this one code to get the full version of Lumen on both.
When you activate, the activation code is sent over the Internet to a third-party provider that we use for licensing in order to be verified. Once the code has been verified, you don't have to be connected to the Internet anymore in order to use the full version of Lumen.
Switching Computers
So, what happens when you get a new computer? You'll be happy to hear that you can transfer your Lumen license between computers easily.
- First, run Lumen on your old computer and make sure that you're connected to the Internet.
- Then select the Lumen -> Show License Info menu item from the main menu.
- Click the "Deactivate This Computer" button that appears, and Lumen will go back into demo mode on this computer.
- On your new computer, run Lumen in demo mode and make sure that you're connected to the Internet.
- You can now enter your activation code to use the full version of Lumen on this computer.
If you don't have access to your old computer anymore in order to do the above steps, contact us and we'll remotely reset your activations during our office hours. Note that this process can take several days.
